I am of the opinion that AI will never truly be art.
Calling an AI generated image "Art" is like calling a microwave meal worthy of a Michelin Star.
Art requires a soul. Art requires emotion, and failure, and learning.
Great pieces of art are made by human beings who fail over and over and over again in order to make those great pieces of art. Michelangelo didn't carve David the first time he picked up a chisel. I didn't sew a quilt the first time I sat down at a sewing machine.
AI generated images/videos/songs are created by stealing art from real artists, using machines that are killing the planet.Â
AI is not an accessibility tool.
To call it that is disrespectful to disabled artists both past and present who create incredible, moving pieces of art.
I am disabled, in various forms - I am Autistic, I have ADHD, PTSD, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, brain fog, and impaired vision.
None of those things have ever stopped me from making art. And, hopefully, they never will.
To put it bluntly, if someone wants to call themselves an artist for putting a prompt into a computer, that's lazy and selfish.
I will not budge on this.
Take your AI rant elsewhere, I don't want to hear it.
