-Sustainable-
Mending your clothes prolongs their life and keeps them out of the landfill.
-Sentimental-
Our clothes mean a lot to us! Mending them means we can wear them for many more years.
-Beautiful-
Mending can be subtle and blend into the garment or it can be colorful and eye catching.
-Economical-
Quality clothing can get expensive.
Fixing the clothes you have can often be cheaper than buying a new pair of pants or a new jacket.
You can choose hand stitching or machine stitching, and whether you would like the mending to be visible or more subtle. I use machine stitching whenever reinforcing is needed.
Hand stitching takes much longer (and is therefore more expensive), but if you're looking for the Visible Mending look, I highly recommend it. I personally like a more visible mend in my clothes, because the age and love of the garment is visible.
Pricing and Payment
The first time we meet is free, and we'll discuss exactly what you want done with each piece. I'll also give you an estimate on how long I think each piece will take.
Mending is $25 an hour, plus a $10 materials fee.
I give discounts to currently enrolled students and Medi-Cal/SNAP recipients.

Please include an image of the piece that needs repairs.
All garments and other pieces that need mending must be cleaned before I take them. There will be a $20 cleaning fee if I feel the need to clean the garment before I work on it.
I currently only accept mending within Santa Cruz county.
A friend brought me her little girl's cold weather coat that had a hole from some sparklers and the remnants of an at home patch that didn't work very well.
This was a very sentimental shirt for my friend, and it gave me the chance to use quite a few different hand stitches.
A spunky patch for my friend's jeans!
The pockets on these pants are lined with a fun red canvas, and he wanted the patches on his beloved jeans to match!
This is a great example of a more visible, eye catching patch that shows how much the garment is loved.
A few years later, when the kiddo had grown out of the first coat, she asked her mom to bring me another coat to add some fun stuff to. I had the perfect ribbon sitting in my stash, so she got some fun pockets.
I've mended these two pairs of socks about a dozen times between the two of them. They're not even very high quality socks, but they're cozy and comfy and the colorful mending just makes me so darn happy!
